## Start with information worth retrieving.

An assistant cannot reliably resolve conflicting policies or missing documentation. We first identify the sources, their owners and what should be current.

The best initial scope is a well-defined set of questions with a clear audience. That makes it possible to test the quality of the answers.

## Respect the access people already have.

Search and retrieval should not expose a document simply because it exists in a shared index. We design source access, citations and permission checks around the actual data.

Answers should point to supporting material and acknowledge when the sources do not establish an answer. A confident tone is not a substitute for evidence.

## Choose whether the next step is an answer or an action.

Helping a person find a procedure is different from executing it. If the assistant will update records or contact someone, we separately define its permissions, approval points and activity history.

Measure answer usefulness, source correctness and the effort needed to resolve unanswered questions. Keep a path to the responsible person.
